Workshop: A debate on Seveso Directive – a national or European safety issue?

One of the workshops at our CIP Conference 2017 on 16 June 2017 at University of Lisbon – Faculdade de Psicologia.

There are close to 200 Seveso establishments in Portugal and about 10.000 all over Europe. Are we safe at the same level in each and every country of the European Union? Should we be equally safe whenever we acquire a property, set an industry, working at different places, or just enjoying cities or places as tourists?

There is a need to define acceptable risk level. In Portugal how to motivate political will/ knowledge to start this discussion and follow to a final definition? Should risk communication be a way to lead to risk governnace envolving citizens, empowering civil society to a safer living?
